It's quiz time!

Who was at the Barn Party in 1966?
Who remembers what intersection the barn was at?
Who got caught by the county sherriffs?

That brings back memories.  I laid in a ditch for over an hour waiting for someone to pick us up.  How much fun was that!!  Really was a great time in our lives!  Only other time I laid in a ditch was to help my husband change the water on the farm.  Absolutely no excitement ithere.   Belle

I think I drove out to that, but did not have the guts to getr out of car.  Sorry Annabelle, I could have given you a ride.

My husband and I never laid in the irrigation ditch, but we did use the silage pit, before we were married.  Oh, yeah, the far side of the walnut orchard was good, too.  I did like to irrigate, but never for romance.

I did not know you were in farming.  What kind?  we had a dairy and also farmed 500 arces.  I hated the dairy part, but loved the farming.  We left in 1986.  We divorced in 1990.  Gosh, time flies.

Leave it to Greg Campbell to remember the party spots. All the pictures of you guys are at parties.

Hi, Greg.  I spoke with your dad at my step mother's gathering, after her memorial service.  He told me what a great artist you are.  I would love to see your bowls.  My brother makes bowls of wood, too, along with furniture, etc.
Your dad said you put turquoise in you bowls.  I bet they are beautiful.

I hope to see you at the reunion.

Hey Gregg,
You were such a buddy to me!   I loved your cool jeep.
So nice to see your picture.  I am looking forward to seeing you at the reunion.
AHH, the famous barn party, I am pretty sure the mayor's son was one of the sherriffs picks that night.  I ran over some kind of field, obiously one with lots of holes and furrows,  not  making it easy to run from the law.  I was so afraid, I could barely breathe, and falling down every few steps!!!  We also hit many ditches, we must have looked a sight for sure.  IT DOES BRING BACK MEMORIES!!  I think i was with either Paulette or Sally and a few others,
We got the tip just as the police were coming around the dirt road, we got out just in time.  Sorry you did not.  ha ha  Thanks for reminding me, that was a fun time!!!

Gail...trust me....we were just changing the gate for the irrigation water.  We have had a farm in Utah forever.  Used to raise cattle with his father.  Now it is a hobby farm raising hay and horses.
Linda...I think you were with me!  We got out of there before the cops showed up.  But the pesky guys keep driving around looking for strays.   Belle

Hi Linda,
I was one of the field runners, too.  I was with my ex, Wayne.  I remember getting scratches all over my legs.

Sounds like us country  boys missed out on some fun. I remember barn parties but they started at 3:30 am and always had something to do with cows, milking machines, or tractors. I think the other party sounds more fun. :)  However, I did consume more than my fair share of 'grain' based beverages  in my younger days.  hee hee

Hey Denise,
YOU WERE ALWAYS SO MUCH FUN!  The  barn party was one of the sscariest times of my life!  It was pitch black dark and none of us had a clue where we were running to, we literally could not see an inch in front of us.  It's a wonder we did not break something running, i know I fell more than I stayed up!!

So good to hear from you, you look awesome!!  Your picture from Italy was really great to see, you have not aged a bit!!!  I also love the ocean.  We were in Italy last year but we went to Rome and Venice and in through Tuscany.  We
cannot wait to go back, this time the southern area and all the ocean areas.

Write back and fill me in on what you have been doing!

Linda,
You were a lot of fun yourself!  I'd love to catch up with you and hear more about Italy.  We can swap stories.  I'll e-mail you this weekend when I'm not so brain dead.  Thanks for writing back.

I was one of the field runners too!  I remember running for my life and it was completely black outside.  No lights from the city or anything.  I remember falling into a ditch that took my breath away!  Then walking forever until we came to someone's house?  I do remember some of the pom pon girls got caught and I felt pretty smug that I got away!!   Don't hate me:)

I was with Linda running through the DARK fields and fell into a ditch.  I remember walking for a long way until I thought we came to someone's house.  We got out just in the nick of time as I recall.  It made for a great story.  I felt pretty smug that we got away and some of the pom pon girls got caught :)  My Mom would have killed me!

The keg party was on the southeast corner of Kyrene and Warner.  I remember Sammy Mosely and Richard Palmer getting rolled up by sheriff's deputies.  DC hit a deputy across the shins with a piece of angle iron and we escaped into the desert. After DC hit the deputy, Sammy let Richard out of the back of a sheriff's car.  The last time I saw Richard he was running away with a keg of beer.

Sorry I've been out of touch,  I fell asleep in the barn.  Many of us were driving, so I think it was 1968.
Deb and I surrendered under spotlights and 'stop or I'll shoot'.  There were at least a dozen of us caught and scared.

I remember  it was on the west side of Kyrene at Warner Road.

Hey Jerry, who owned that land FFA boy.

FFA boy is thinking (ouch)   The NW corner of Kyrene and Warner was  the elementary school  and the south side was alfalfa, I dont remember a barn. Was it west of the school at the old chicken ranch? There was a big old barn east of McClintock on Eliott also. Damn memory!

Maybe this was another kegger, but I don't think so...I remember the county sheriffs letting a lot of us go because there were so many of us.

Nope it wasn't Kyrene and Warner. That is where I lived after highschool when I was married to Tom Owens. (who was of the Warner family) There was Kyrene School on the NW corner and west of that was a riding stables. There was a dairy on the NE corner and fields on the SW and SE corners.

You are getting closer though.

Was it in Owens quanset barn down by the canal?  When I was a little squirt at Kyrene school the chicken ranch was next to the school, then later on they built the stable up by the tracks. I think  :0)

Jerry,

It was on the SW corner of Kyrene and Warner where the home depot is now.  It was due south of the old Kyrene School.  I was wrong when I said it was on the SE corner.
